More Than Two Decades of Reinvention:
How Yeowarra Hill Keeps Bringing Celebrations to Life

Some businesses survive by staying exactly the same.

Yeowarra Hill has endured by doing the opposite.

What began as a family-owned vineyard and function venue has evolved over more than two decades into a remarkably versatile regional event business offering weddings, catering, marquees, party hire and a fully equipped mobile kitchen.

Its story is not simply one of longevity. It is a story of recognising what local celebrations need—and continually finding new ways to deliver it.

Where the Story Began

The Yeowarra Hill vineyard was established in 1998 across 80 acres of rural grazing land, with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines planted against a backdrop of sweeping countryside.

Bronwyn and Keith Thomas began hosting events at Yeowarra Hill in 2004, creating a function venue and wedding reception destination with views stretching towards Lake Colac, the Warrion Hills and the Otway Ranges.

Its gardens, vineyard and rural setting soon became a memorable backdrop for country weddings and special occasions.

Couples could hold their ceremony among the gardens or vines before celebrating with family and friends in the function room. The venue could accommodate intimate gatherings as well as larger seated receptions and cocktail-style celebrations.

But the Yeowarra Hill story did not stop at the edge of the property.

Taking the Food Beyond the Venue

As demand for Yeowarra Hill’s food and event experience grew, the business expanded into off-site catering.

Its experienced team can now cater for occasions ranging from smaller private gatherings to events of up to 350 people. Menus can include finger food, gourmet barbecues, buffets, formal dinners and afternoon teas, with seasonal ingredients at the centre of the offering.

This flexibility has allowed Yeowarra Hill to support weddings, birthdays, engagements, corporate functions, Christmas celebrations, memorial services and community occasions across the region.

Whether an event is held at Yeowarra Hill or another chosen location, the same understanding of regional events travels with the team.

From Catering to Complete Event Support

Catering an event often reveals how many individual elements are needed to bring it together.

Tables, chairs, crockery, cutlery, glassware, linen, catering equipment and marquees all need to be sourced, transported and coordinated. Yeowarra Hill responded by developing its own extensive party hire service.

Today, the team can supply many of the practical foundations required to transform an open space, private property or community venue into a functioning celebration.

This ability to combine catering and equipment hire can simplify event planning considerably. Instead of coordinating multiple separate suppliers, clients can access more of what they need through one experienced regional team.

It is an offering built not only from inventory, but from years of firsthand knowledge about how events actually work.

A Mobile Kitchen Built for Regional Celebrations

One of Yeowarra Hill’s most significant evolutions has been the addition of a fitted-out food van and mobile kitchen.

Fully self-contained with its own kitchen, water supply and generator, the mobile kitchen allows the team to bring its catering services to a wider variety of locations.

That could mean arriving at a private property for a relaxed country wedding, supporting a celebration in a regional hall or catering an event where traditional kitchen facilities are limited.

For couples and event organisers drawn to unconventional locations, this mobility creates exciting possibilities. A meaningful family property, rural setting or chosen venue does not necessarily need a commercial kitchen before it can host a professionally catered celebration.

Yeowarra Hill can bring the kitchen to the event.

Experience That Continues to Evolve

More than two decades after Bronwyn and Keith began hosting functions, Yeowarra Hill is no longer just a venue.

It can provide the place, prepare the food, bring the marquee, supply the tables and glassware, or arrive with a mobile kitchen ready to serve guests somewhere entirely different.

That evolution has not moved the business away from its beginnings. It has strengthened what Yeowarra Hill has always offered: practical experience, generous hospitality and an understanding of what it takes to bring people together.

In an industry that constantly changes, Yeowarra Hill’s longevity comes from its willingness to change with it.

That may be the most newsworthy part of its story.
